| The Dark Blues gaffer was at Stark’s Park last night and watched on as the Fifers came back from a goal down to beat Ross County.
That may have been good news for Dundee’s league prospects, as it kept the Dingwall side six points adrift in the title race, but it also served notice of the threat Raith will pose in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.
Previous games between the pair this season have been tight — a 2-2 draw in Fife followed by a narrow 2-1 win for Dundee at Dens back in October — and Jocky expects Saturday’s tie to be no different.
“It’s going to be very difficult on Saturday,” said Jocky. “Ross County led at half-time last night, and probably deservedly so.
“Raith had huffed and puffed for a bit, but then they equalised and the game changed, and they’ve gone on to score a winner late on.
“County will probably have gone up the road feeling a little hard done by, but that’s the nature of this league — there are no easy games.
“But I’ll certainly be giving our players plenty of warning of what to expect on Saturday and there is no way they’ll be going onto the park showing any sign of complacency.”
Although it will add to an already congested fixture list, Jocky admitted Saturday’s tie was a good chance to get away from the pressure of chasing league points.
He continued, “I think it will be a welcome break for us, but, although it adds to the fixture pile-up, everybody at the club wants to do well in all competitions.
“Saturday will be a nice diversion from the league, but the fans, directors and management want to win every game and the players are no different.
“We recognise it’s a big game and appreciate what’s at stake.”
Meanwhile, the club finally received international clearance for Bob Malcolm today.
The former Rangers man is now clear to play at the weekend should the manager decide to use him. |
