Photo hope in hunt for Mary
Police in Dundee are studying revellers’ party photos from the night local mum Mary McLaren vanished in a bid to trace her (writes Graeme Ogston).
Officers quizzed hundreds of people in the city centre last night in their search for the 34-year-old, who has not been seen since early last Thursday after a visit to Fat Sam’s nightclub.

Detective Chief Inspector Shaun McKillop said the public response had been “excellent”.

He said, “Revellers have been sending in photographs they have taken on their phones from within Fat Sam’s last Wednesday and this has been extremely helpful.

“We spoke to hundreds of people in the area of Fat Sam’s last night and a number were able to provide us with very helpful information.”

An 18-strong team quizzed revellers and taxi drivers about Mary and a mystery man she was seen with on CCTV footage in King Street at around 3am on Thursday.

DCI McKillop said, “I would appeal to anyone who took photos last Wednesday night or the early hours of Thursday morning in the club to get in touch as they may help us identify the man seen with Mary on the night she disappeared.

“Last night proved to be a great opportunity for us to speak to those who live outwith the city but who regularly attend Fat Sam’s on a Wednesday night.”

Police have stressed the search for Mary is still a missing person inquiry. It follows claims from her family that she is being held against her will.

Mary was last seen with a mystery man she met in the club with her sister Michelle Rodger.

Michelle said she thinks Mary is being held without her permission.

She added, “She would never go with another man. She’ll dance with them and tell them 100% straight she’s married.”

The mystery man is described as between 30 and 45, slim, 5ft 7ins with fair hair and a moustache.

He was wearing a grey roundneck t-shirt, a dark jacket with white reflective piping on the back and dark trousers.

Mary, who walks with a limp, is 5ft 2ins and has long brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a distinctive black and white patterned dress, black leggings, a white duffel coat and flat black shoes.

She was carrying a black handbag and a pink inflatable toy.
