| Glenconnor Drive runs past the entrance to the school and has a long grassy verge between the east and west-bound sides of the road.
Since the school opened several parents have been choosing to bump up on to the grass at dropping off and picking up times, narrowing the gap for vehicles to pass.
An angry resident contacted the Tele to report the problem, claiming long rows of parked cars build up each weekday before and after school.
He said, “I come down that road everyday at about 3pm when the school is coming out.
“The parents are using the grass verge to park on and there is barely enough room to squeeze a car through sometimes.
“There is no room for error, but not only that, the grass is getting all churned up and spreading mud all over the road. It makes it a very slippery surface and it is dangerous.
“I have reported it to the police but nothing seems to have been done.”
The outcry over the dangerous parking follows a similar problem at Craigiebarns Primary this week where parents have been stopping illegally at the school gates.
Inspector Gordon Taylor, from Tayside Police’s road policing unit, said, “Parents parking on the central reservation at Glenconnor Drive outside Rowantree Pimary School are creating a risk to young people and to other road users.
“Now this has been brought to our attention we’ll be working with local officers to ensure the appropriate action is taken.” |
