| Councillor Alan Ross said today he is to meet at the site with city engineers and head of transportation Neil Gellatly to discuss ways to improve the situation.
Cllr Ross said there was a particular problem at a narrow road leading into the junction.
“I have received quite a lot of complaints about Duncraig Road at the new Tesco on South Road,” he said. “It’s just a small narrow road and there’s been a lot of traffic jams at the lights. I know the bus company has reservations about it.”
The councillor said recent street closures due to roadworks in the Charleston area had exacerbated the situation. As well as large buses negotiating the narrow road at the congested junction, which is part of the normal bus route, he had also seen big lorries adding to the congestion problems.
“I use that road quite a lot because my girlfriend lives just beside it,” he said. “I have seen traffic mounting the pavement to get through.”
He admits that he has no ready answers but is keen to find a solution to the problem.
“Something does need to be done, but what that is we are not quite sure,” he said. |
