| It understood that the blaze, which took hold in a top-floor flat in Balmerino Road early on Saturday morning, had three separate seats of fire, leading the authorities to suspect foul play.
Tayside Police and Tayside Fire and Rescue have launched a joint investigation.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze after the alarm was raised by a passer-by around 4.45am.
