| The baby was taken in to care just hours after she was born by social work officials last month but that decision was overturned following an appeal.
However, the parents, who cannot be named for legal reasons, suffered further disappointment when doctors said the little girl would need more hospital treatment for an infection.
Her dad said, “We’ve got the youngest baby home. She came back on Monday and we love having her.
“She is a lot better now, she’s feeding properly and sleeping well. We’ve been lucky because she’s only been getting up once during the night.”
Earlier this year, two of the family’s children, aged three and four, were taken into care amid concerns over their weight. Last month, the rest of the children were also taken into care.
“Now our priority is to get the rest of the children home,” said the dad. “We’re working with our lawyer to do that.”
Dundee City Council has repeatedly stated it “could not comment on individual cases,” but has also insisted a child’s weight would not be the only reason for any decision to take him or her into care. |
