| The MV Discovery cruise ship is berthed in Dundee until tomorrow morning as part of an 11-day tour of Britain, and the ship’s hotel manager, Eddie Thomson, who is originally from Dundee, said it was “fantastic” to be back home.
“I got up at half six because I hoped to wave to my kids who live in the Ferry, but we were almost docked already.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing them and my four grandchildren later today.”
The trip has seen Eddie come full circle from the start of his career 40 years ago.
He said, “The first time I went to sea was from the George V wharf in London in 1969 and today we’re in George V wharf in Dundee.”
Eddie and his colleagues will be making the most of their time in the city. He said, “We have booked dinner on the RSS Discovery and we will be going in uniform. The ship has spent the last five winters in Antarctica, so we have another link with Captain Scott.” |
