Nightshift for United
With boss Craig Levein determined to leave nothing to chance, the Dundee United players are in for a stint of nightshift at Tannadice later this week (writes Tom Duthie).
A new state-of-the-art floodlight system was installed at Tannadice over the summer and the switching of the opening league game against Hearts to Monday night means they’ll be in use immediately.

Accordingly, Craig has told his players to report at 8 o’clock on Thursday night for a session under the lights.

“It’s a bit different from the normal routine, but this way we can let the boys get used to the new lights and also check out if there are any problems with them to make sure they are good for Monday,” he said.

By that evening work-out, Craig expects injury-victims Danny Cadamarteri, Andy Webster, Andis Shala and David Goodwillie to be back in full training.

“By tomorrow, a few of them will be back, though I’m not sure about Goodwillie. With all of them the problems are minor and I don’t see anyone struggling to make Monday,” he added.

United still have not received a formal bid from Ipswich for midfielder Morgaro Gomis — a situation that suits the manager.
