“T” teen laid to rest

Mourners arrive at Errol Church for the service.

There were emotional scenes today as Errol teenager Lachlan Gillies was laid to rest (writes Dave Lord).
Mourners packed Errol Church for a service this afternoon and Lachlan was then laid to rest at Murie Cemetery.

The 17 year old was struck by a lorry on his way to T in the Park last Friday.

His parents, Ron and Judith, own the Cairn O’ Mohr winery at East Inchmichael in Errol. Lachlan is also survived by his brother Rory and sister Annie.

Lachlan’s family said he was “much loved” and will be “very sadly missed”. He was described by friends as an intelligent young man who “loved life”.

He was a popular figure at Perth High School, where he was head boy and joint senior dux. Lachlan was also a pupil representative on the school board and recently won prizes for biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

A retiring collection following today’s service was taken for the Blythswood shoe box appeal.
