Tributes pour in for Errol youth
Tributes are continuing to pour in today following the death of Errol teenager Lachlan Gillies.
He was en route to T in the Park on Friday when he was struck by a lorry.

He was taken to hospital in Dunfermline, but declared dead.

Lachlan (left) was a popular figure at Perth High School, where he was head boy and joint senior dux.

Headteacher Jim Scott said his death had greatly saddened staff and pupils alike.

“Lachlan was one of the nicest young men you could ever wish to meet,” he told the Tele.

“He was the kind of pupil that made it an absolute joy to be a teacher.

“Lachlan was outstanding, both academically and as a person.

“All of our thoughts are with Lachlan’s family at this difficult time.

“We will consider how to remember Lachlan at the school in due course. At the moment everyone is still coming to terms with this tragic news.”

It is understood Lachlan was planning to take a year out travelling prior to continuing his education at university.

Lachlan’s family owns the Cairn O’ Mohr fruit winery, at East Inchmichael, in Errol.

His mother, Judith, described her son as a “great lad” who loved life.

Dozens of tributes have been left on his Bebo social networking site on the internet.

One pal, called Zac, wrote, “Lachlan I can’t believe you’re gone.”

Meanwhile, Spikey said, “You will never be forgotten. I feel sorry for all your family.”

Hannah Davies added, “I do not know how your friends will survive without you . . . take care of yourself up there.”

The accident involved an eastbound lorry and happened 400 yards west of the entrance to Moto Services on the A977 near Kinross, not far from the T in the Park site. No one else was injured.

A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
