| Richard Diamond of Baldovie Terrace, Douglas, said he and his neighbours have been in contact with the council regarding the problem since 1995 — yet still nothing has been done.
“One of my neighbours wrote to the council in 1995 about the potholes,” he said.
“It’s now 2009 and they’re still there.
“They get really badly flooded when it rains and could do real damage to cars — the traffic is a lot heavier than you might think here. It’s a busy street.
“I want to buy a new car but I feel I’m restricted in what I can buy because of the problem. The potholes would just ruin cars with lower profiles.
“It’s so bad that if I were buying a house now, I’m not sure I would buy one here.
“I’ve even tried filling a few of them up myself with concrete.”
East End Councillor Christina Roberts met with Mr Diamond to discuss the problem.
She said she would attempt to resolve the problem but stressed that there was limited funding available to do so. |
