| Work on a £250,000 project — funded by chairman Stephen Thompson himself — is under way, but will involve the contractors increasing the illumination on only two of the existing four lights.
That’s because a new set of lights will be run along the roof of the George Fox Stand, providing a brightness that is up to UEFA standards.
“Obviously, we don’t need the floodlights at the start of the season so it will be a while before people notice, but they will see a difference later in the year,” said director Derek Robertson.
“Effectively, the existing pylons on the George Fox side of the stadium will now be redundant.”
The Tangerines, meanwhile, have clinched a five-figure sponsorship deal that will see local vehicle repair firm Dents8’s name appear on first-team shorts and socks for the next two seasons.
The new Nike kit that was launched at the beginning of the week will have the company’s name emblazoned on the front of the shorts of both the home and away strips, and also the home socks.
As part of Nike’s deal with the Tangerines, the club shop at Tannadice has been refurbished and, from it re-opening tomorrow morning, will be run by the sportswear giant.
As well as the home kit going on sale from 11 am, a new range of training gear will be available and, for the next year, the clothing will have a new centenary badge emblazoned on it.
The chairman will be performing the re-opening ceremony and the first customer through the doors will be presented with a free home shirt.
Today saw a regular board meeting held and, although it will be another few days before he can be formally revealed as being back on the board, returning director John Bennett did attend. |
