Harris Academy in Dundee fought off stiff competition to take home two trophies at an Enterprising Maths tournament (writes Alison Graves).
Held in Craigie High, the tournament consisted of 16 teams from eight schools, with Harris beating all competition to take home the Lord Provost’s Trophy and a quaich.

The pupils worked through puzzles and games using lateral thinking and strategy moves.

The annual competition is organised by a committee of teachers who meet over the winter to plan and prepare for the event.

Schools throughout Scotland take part in local events, with a number of schools taking part for a place in the national final. Harris will now take part in the final and host the local competition next year.

Harris teacher Marjorie Coton said, “The day was a great success with so much fun. All teams had a good time, competing against each other right up to the whistle at the end of the last round.”
