MP ‘furious’ with NCR director
Dundee West MP Jim McGovern has said he is “simply furious” at NCR’s director of production management for refusing to meet him today.
Mr McGovern sought discussions with Adam Crighton in light of the decision to relocate the firm’s headquarters to Georgia and create an innovation hub.

That has sparked fears over the jobs of those employed in research and development at the Discovery Centre off Kingsway West.

Mr Crighton has said his diary is too busy today and Monday to meet Mr McGovern or even return his phone call.

Mr McGovern said the delay showed “utter contempt” for his constituents already worried about the security of their jobs following the axing of Dundee-based manufacturing posts.

“I am simply furious that Mr Crighton has point blank refused to meet with me regarding the future of NCR and its employees, many of whom are my constituents and who have asked for my assistance,” he said.

“The utter contempt shown at my request for a meeting or even a phone call clearly demonstrates Mr Crighton’s priorities, which are clearly not the people who live in the constituency where NCR is located.

“As a politician I am fairly thick-skinned, and I regard Mr Crighton’s stance as extremely disrespectful not only to the people employed by NCR but to the people of Dundee generally.

“I am sad to report that this is nothing new with regard to the way NCR treat the elected members for the constituencies affected by their decisions.

“I hope Mr Crighton rethinks his decision and finds some time in his diary to meet with me to answer my and my constituents’ very important questions.”

An NCR spokesperson confirmed Mr Crighton would be unable to meet the MP until “early next week”. However, this may prove complicated as Mr McGovern has to return to Westminster on Monday.

NCR insisted moves were being made to schedule a meeting with Mr McGovern “as soon as Mr Crighton’s schedule allows”.
