Plea for horror extras
If last night’s showing at DCA of the once-banned Zombie Flesh Eaters has whetted your appetite for horror flicks, then two Dundee film makers are offering the chance to appear in what would be one of the first films of that genre to be shot in the city (writes Bruce Robbins).

Sandy Jack and Stephen Samson have started filming a story about a mad, serial-killing psychiatrist and are looking for extras to fill the background in pub scenes and to play dead bodies.

The film-making pals are also keen to hear any suggestions for location shooting around the city — and the darker and scarier the better.

The pair run Never Lost Films and have ambitions to go on to bigger and better things. Their last project was a feature on controversial Dundee-born aviation pioneer Preston Watson but their latest effort concentrates very much on the darker side of the city.

“The main roles are cast, Stephen is the mad psychiatrist and I’m just a stalker,” said Sandy.

“The film is really about a woman trying to find her missing sister. What we’re looking for are extras of all ages and sexes.”

Sandy (27) and Stephen (26) met while appearing with Dundee Rep, both having studied acting and performance after leaving school.

Sandy said, “We decided to do it in Dundee because that’s where we’re based, but also because there aren’t many films made in city.

“We’ve already shot some scenes in the city centre and Monifieth and we’ll be using Balgay Park and some local factories.

“The plan is to make the film, submit it to festivals and hopefully put it on at DCA.”
