Dundee animated film wins award
A Dundee animated film has been awarded an international award (writes Graeme Strachan).
The Happy Duckling, which featured at last year’s Discovery Film Festival, has scooped the Pulcinella Award for best short film at Cartoons on the Bay, the international television and multimedia festival in Italy.

The jury awarded the prize for its clever storytelling and unique animation.

Written and directed in Dundee by Gili Dolev, with an original score by Mick Cooke of Belle and Sebastian, The Happy Duckling follows the antics of a reluctant young boy and the relentlessly happy duck that trails him. It is set in a pop-up book world where anything can, and does, happen.

The film has been invited to 12 festivals already, is currently touring the USA as part of Kids First! Festival and has been bought by TV3 Catalunya Spain and SSR Switzerland.
