BRORA GAME CHEERS CRAIG
While he was very happy to see his side score eight goals last night, Dundee United manager Craig Levein was full of praise for hosts Brora Rangers (writes John Brown).
A strong Tannadice XI. headed north to play in a match to mark new floodlights at the Highland League club’s Dudgeon Park and were rewarded with a goal spree, which included a hat-trick for German striker Andis Shala and a double for David Goodwillie in the 8-0 rout.

“To be fair to Brora, we did put out quite a strong team,” revealed Craig, whose first-team charges are not back on SPL duty until they visit Hibs a week on Saturday.

“Also, Brora were a young side and I think they took a bit of stage fright in the opening part of the game.

“By the time they got their act together, we were four goals up, but Brora, to their credit, did not resort to doing anything untoward.

“I’ve got to praise my guys for the professional way they went about things.

“I’m not talking about results, but, really, I’ve always got a fear about games like that inasmuch as sometimes we don’t get anything out of them. However, it was quite the opposite.

“The players worked really hard, stayed focused, got a good run-out and several gained confidence with their displays.

“I was particularly happy to see Danny Grainger complete 90 minutes in what was his first full game for quite a while.

“With Paul Dixon out of our next game through suspension, it could well be that Danny will be fit and ready for the visit to Hibs. “We’ve also got another boost with Darren Dods now back in full training.”

United’s other goals last night came from Ryan McCord, Danny Swanson and Sean Dillon.

TALKS CONTINUE
Dundee manager Jocky Scott is continuing to speak to his playing staff as he formulates his plans for next season (writes John Brown).
“Obviously, I’ve spoken to a number of them already,” he said today.

“However, by the middle of next week, I hope to have chatted to them all, so everyone will know where they stand.”

As the club looked forward to Saturday’s visit of league leaders St Johnstone, young on-loan Ranger Georgios Efrem trained with the first-team squad yesterday, but defender David Cowan didn’t and joins Paul McHale, Colin Cameron and Mark Gilhaney on the doubtful list.

STEVEN SHOULD MAKE IT
St Johnstone striker Steven Milne should be OK to face Dundee.
He was suffering from a knee injury earlier in the week, but manager Derek McInnes said he should be all right to face Dundee.

Steven, a former Dundee player, netted Saints’ goal in the 1-1 draw at Dens Park earlier in the season and is the Perth club’s leading scorer this season.

Central defender Stuart McCaffrey, who has missed the last three games due to injury, is also OK and could return at Dens.

Jody Morris, out since February 21 with a knee injury, came through a closed-doors match against Celtic OK and the midfielder could also return. Kevin James and on-loan Ranger Steven Kinniburgh also played, with Graeme Barrett (2) and Steven Reynolds being Saints’ scorers in the 3-3 divide.

However, the Perth club are likely to without two forwards. Peter MacDonald is still troubled by injury and is unlikely to make it, and Andy Jackson remains on the long term injured list.

There has been a steady stream of season tickets holder buying tickets for Saturday’s game and the sale remains exlusive to season holders until 7 pm today.

However, there are tickets available for the general sale which begins tomorrow between 9.30-7 pm and continues on Friday (9.30-5 pm).
