| Edinburgh-based Granite Edge had given the former Prisme Packaging staff until 5pm today before an eviction notice was due to be served at the Tannadice Street premises where seven staff have staged a sit-in for the last six weeks.
However, a spokeswoman for the property firm told the Tele today that the deadline would be extended to an unspecified date to allow a rescue deal with a private backer to be completed.
The landlord previously extended the deadline from last Friday to give the workers more time to secure funding that would allow them to take over the business as a going concern.
One of the group, David Taylor (33), said he was “totally over the moon” Granite Edge had given them as much time as they needed to close the deal.
He said, “I am delighted at the news. It’s a great weight off our shoulders.
“We are very close to securing our funding and we are keeping Granite Edge informed every step of the way.”
The workers have been protesting since last month after being made redundant without holiday pay, pay in lieu of notice or outstanding wages. |
