| Football fans and members of the public from across the country raised the £5000 needed to repatriate 42-year-old Kevin Murray’s body after it emerged his heartbroken family were struggling to shoulder the bill.
The father of four was found dead in his hotel room after last month’s World Cup qualifying match between Scotland and Holland.
His grieving mother, Lorraine Murray, confirmed the process of bringing her son home was under way.
She said, “I spoke to the undertakers earlier today and they told me Kevin should be coming home on Friday.
“It’s a relief to get to where we are now after the last few weeks of not knowing how things would turn out. I’m so grateful to everyone who contributed to bringing him home.”
It is expected the funeral arrangements will be finalised early next week. |
