Chic (pictured at foot of column) won the old English First Division with Chelsea in 1955 and, four years later, won the FA Cup with Nottingham Forest.
James said, “Chic died in early January aged 78.
“He was born in Perth and Chelsea paid Clyde £5000 for him in October 1952.
“During his five-year Chelsea career, he played 59 times and kept 16 clean sheets, vying for the goalkeeper’s jersey with Bill Robertson.”
Chic moved to Forest in 1957 and won his FA Cup medal two years later.
He is also a member of a remarkable band of Perthshire footballers with a superb Wembley record.
Jimmy Guthrie, Dave Ewing, Raymond Stewart, Atholl Henderson, Allan Smart and Paul Sturrock all played in winning sides in major games at Wembley including cup finals, internationals and play-offs.
Chic spent 14 years as a professional, and his funeral was conducted by Chelsea fan, the Rev. Martin Swan.
