Redevelopment plans to be discussed

NCR today said it will be discussing with developers Macdonald Estates its plans for the redevelopment of the Wester Gourdie site (writes Bruce Robbins).
The two parties announced in November that they were keen to push ahead with a retail, leisure and hotel project on land bordering Kingsway West which would include the construction of an ASDA superstore.

This was to have included the demolition of the existing NCR factory and its replacement with a much smaller manufacturing facility.

However, an NCR spokesman told the Tele today that the plan (pictured above) will have to be re-examined again in light of the company’s decision to cease manufacturing.

He said, “We were originally looking at a timescale of 12 to 18 months from our announcement in November.

“We have been in contact with Macdonald Estates to explain that we want to explore options with a view to moving things forward.

“The project is at an early stage and discussions will be continuing.”
