Dundee councillor slams West End graffiti vandals

Graffiti vandals, who have targeted the Magdalen Green area of Dundee, were today slammed for their “mindless” behaviour by a West End councillor (writes Bruce Robbins).

Fraser Macpherson said the vandals had defaced one of the city’s “most iconic green spaces”.

A new notice board on the Green and the walk-bridge between the Green and the playing fields at Riverside Drive have both been scrawled over by the vandals.

Following complaints from local residents and the Friends of Magdalen Green, Councillor Macpherson said he has contacted the city council’s head of waste management asking that the local authority’s rapid response team remove the graffiti.

Mr Macpherson has also reported the matter to Tayside Police.

The councillor said, “Residents are rightly extremely annoyed at this latest example of mindless vandalism.

“Graffiti is a problem in many parts of the city and it is important it is removed promptly, so I am grateful to the head of waste management who has very promptly responded, advising that he will progress my request that the graffiti gets removed.

“The department also makes anti-graffiti kits available to community groups, which is a useful service.”
