| Cameron Tyler (23) was working alone at the 3000RPM computer shop in West Port on Friday evening when the three robbers threatened him before making off with cash and electrical equipment totalling £3000.
Mr Tyler, pictured right, was forced to open the till and was then robbed of his mobile phone, wallet and shop keys.
“My initial reaction was I thought it was someone having a laugh. It wasn’t until I saw the knives that I realised it was serious,” he said.
“That was a major wake-up call. All three men grabbed me and pointed their knives at me. One put it to my waist and the other two at my head.
“One of them ordered me to open the till or else he would stab me five times. It was an extremely frightening experience.”
Shop owner Dale Summerton, who is also Mr Tyler’s flatmate, said, “It is something you never expect to happen in Dundee, especially in our little shop.
“Cameron is more than just a staff member — he is also a friend, so obviously my first thoughts are with him. It is especially worrying as they also stole his personal items including his wallet.”
Police are now investigating the robbery, which was captured on the store’s CCTV.
They have already recovered the car believed to have been used by the robbers — a green Renault Laguna, registration number R613 HGK, which was found in Charleston on Saturday.
It had been stolen from the Gotterstone area of West Ferry.
The men are all described as being 5’10”. One is slim and was wearing a dark and light striped top, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
The second man is of medium build and wore a green hooded top, with a dark and light striped top underneath, dark tracksuit and white trainers.
The third man was slim and wore a light grey hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
Detective Inspector Colin Gall said today some paperwork taken during the robbery had been recovered close to where the stolen car was abandoned.
He said, “We now believe the stolen vehicle would have arrived in a cul-de-sac area of Broomlee Road between 5.30pm and 5.45pm.
“We believe the men then left the car and headed up a footpath towards Portmore Place.
“That is a very densely populated area of housing and I am sure other members of the public will have seen three men in that area leaving the car.
“We are now continuing our door-to-door inquiries in that area.”
