Chance to bid farewell to school
Following a flood of calls from misty eyed former pupils, people are to be given the chance to bid a fond farewell to Lawside Academy, Dundee, before the bulldozers move in (writes Graeme Strachan).
People have been ringing the general office to ask if they can have a last look around the West School Road building before it is demolished early in the New Year.

Lawside and St Saviour's High School are being merged in a new St Paul’s Academy as part of the council’s £90 million Public Private Partnership scheme.

“I haven’t been surprised by the amount of people that have been ringing the office,” said drama teacher Rosemary Chivers.

“I’m a former pupil and if I wasn’t working here, I’d also want to have a last look around. A lot of people will have very fond memories of the school and will be sad to see it go.

“We’re certain there will be lots of people that would like to come back again so we’ve decided to give anyone who is interested a chance to say goodbye on Tuesday.”

Anyone interested in visiting the school on Tuesday is asked to call 01382 436121 to arrange a time.
