Derek’s delight
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes took “a lot of positives” from the 1-0 home Reserve League Cup win over Dunfermline (writes James Masson).
Andy Jackson netted the only goal, and Derek said, “I was looking for a reaction from guys who have been out of the first team and I got it.”

Kevin James is still out injured due to his back injury, but there is better news of keeper Euan McLean, who has been given the all clear to step up his training.

Meanwhile, Derek remarked he feels right-back Gary Irvine has been showing a good level of consistency.

“Gary has been involved in every top-team game this season and has shown a fine level of performance. He’s good going forward and has worked very hard on the defensive side of his game.”
