Time to invest in new rail station
Yet again we have someone calling for Dundee Railway Station to be upgraded.

I would suggest that Dundee Station be abandoned in favour of a new facility at the level crossing off Dock Street.

There are prime locations, like the tyre depot building, which would make an ideal site to house a new station, which could bring Dundee up to date with its equivalents in other Scottish cities.

Such a building would allow for proper street level access to the platforms.

Trains which stop at Dundee could stop at Dundee’s other station, Broughty Ferry, thus recreating at minimal cost a commuter link. — Right Track.

Circus effect
I was astounded two ‘circus’ albums have leapt to the forefront of pop — simultaneously and with the same theme.

Take That released their album The Circus on the same day as Britney Spears released her much-anticipated comeback album Circus.

I am curious as regards which act did not realise the other’s intentions.

It also came as a blip and setback to me, because, as a member of the Songwriters’ Association, I was preparing a whole batch of my songs to be made up into demo CDs — one of my songs being Circus Show. — J. I. Matthew.

Parking problems
I write with reference to my letter regarding the state of the car park at St Joseph’s PS, Dundee.

Since the Education Department has no plans to upgrade the area, I wonder if they have any plans to pay compensation to the drivers whose cars are damaged by the potholes?

I have seen at least three cars with punctures in the past couple of weeks. It is more than likely there have been more.

There is no way of avoiding them as they are at the entrance to the car park.

It is well over a year since temporary repairs were carried out and it is now worse than ever.

It is also dangerous to walk on. So does someone, a child maybe, have to break an ankle before it is repaired?

The car park is also used by people visiting the nearby church for funerals and weddings, so it is dangerous for everyone. — Worried Parker.

Who runs Scotland?
I wonder who is running Scotland?

The economic crisis, to me, illustrates why we should stay in the union.

John Swinney had months to tell us how the Holyrood government plans to help the economy.

Now we’re told we’ll have to wait another few weeks to find out. No country has been spared from the world recession.

If Gordon Brown is to blame for the banking crisis then where does that leave Alex Salmond, who earlier this year demanded less regulatory control to give them a competitive edge over banks south of the border?

Many of the 20,000 RBS and HBOS jobs have been saved thanks to the Union.

From where would Mr Swinney have found the £32 billion to save them? — Dundee Reader.

Full inquiry is needed
Why is Nicola Sturgeon stalling on a full independent inquiry into the C. Difficile outbreak?

Hugh Pennington, one of Britain’s most eminent public health experts, believes the number of deaths is greater than first reported.

The relatives of the deceased deserve to know the full story. — Concerned, Dundee.
