| Hancock of Gravenhunger Hall, Woore, Shropshire, had previously admitted driving his Volkswagen Toureg at 95mph on the M90 Perth- Edinburgh motorway, near the B9097 junction, on August 17.
Today Justice of the Peace Barbara Briggs-Constable fined him £400 and imposed four penalty points and disqualified him for six months under the totting-up procedure as he already had nine points on his licence.
When the case called at Perth last month, Hancock’s solicitors requested that the court consider imposing a seven-day ban instead of adding points to his licence.
The celebrity, who is currently one of the stars fronting a supermarket’s television advertising campaign, had maintained a ban of any longer would cause “exceptional hardship” and could harm his television work.
However Mrs Barbara Briggs-Constable said Hancock would have to appear in person if he wished to argue against disqualification on the grounds of exceptional hardship.
The court was told today that Hancock would no longer be arguing for a short ban and would not be appearing at the court. |
