Model agency signs Face of Wellgate girl

A young Monifieth girl has been signed by a top modelling agency after she was spotted making her catwalk debut in a Dundee fashion show (writes Eve Noon).
Kirstin Lees (10) beat off tough competition in September to become one of The Wellgate Shopping Centre’s Faces of Wellgate in the annual competition, which is supported by and run through the Tele.

The director of UK talent management agency The Look Models also noticed her model material on the day and she has since been added to their books.

Since Kirstin was announced the female winner of the age five to 12 years category, she has been busy modelling for the Wellgate in a series of fashion shoots.

As well as featuring on a banner in the centre, Kirstin has also represented the centre in various local fashion spreads and adverts.

It was a dream come true for her when she returned from a family holiday to be told by her grandmother that she had won the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Kirstin said, “I’m really enjoying being a model so far. I’ve had the chance to wear some lovely clothes and being on the catwalk was loads of fun.”

Her mum, Karen, added, “We’re delighted for Kirstin. We didn’t expect her to end up on the books at one of the country’s best talent agencies. It’s a pleasant surprise and the family are so proud of her.”

The Look Models has over 3000 professionals on its books and is Scotland’s largest agency. They are always on the look out for new talent and when director Rosalynd Ramage met Kirstin at the shows she instantly recognised her potential as a model.

Rosalynd said, “Our goal is simple — to make our models shine. The first thing I noticed about Kirstin was her charismatic smile and I could see that she was comfortable in front of the camera. We are hopeful that with training, hard work and dedication we can help Kirstin kick-start her career as a model.”

Wellgate manager John Morton added, “It is fantastic news about Kirstin. We hold the Faces of Wellgate competition to demonstrate the real talent there is in Dundee and we hope future entrants have the chance to follow in her footsteps.”
