Paton poised to face Pars
The injury list may still have almost as many names on it as a team sheet, but Dundee should be boosted by the return of one influential performer at Dunfermline on Saturday (writes Tom Duthie).
Full-back Eric Paton, who has been in the wars recently with shoulder and ankle trouble, trained with the first team today and is expected to be available for East End Park.

After taking a knock against Airdrie United last Saturday, young striker Bryan Deasley was also back at work today and will be available for selection.

While manager Jocky Scott is actively looking to add to his squad via emergency loans, however, the likely presence of Paton will be the only boost this weekend.

“Ray Farningham and I have started taking in games so we can see people who are not in first teams right now, but who could still do a job for us,” he said.

“Getting one or two in until the turn of the year when some of our long-term injured will be back would be good, but nothing is going to be done before Saturday.”

Tomorrow night, Dens Park will be the venue for the latest game in this season’s Victory Shield series when Scotland play host to Northern Ireland at under-16 level. Kick off is at 7.40
