I received an application for a new job and it requires that I fill out a medical questionnaire.
Part of the questionnaire needs to be filled in by a doctor to certify my health.
The doctor is required to answer yes/no to four questions, sign and date the form and stamp the practice’s address on the form.
So I booked my doctor’s appointment and attended, the doctor filled in the form as required and informed me that there would be a fee to pay which I would have to ask about at reception.
The practice manager informed me the entire consultation lasted a whole three minutes and the fee determined by her for this lengthy consultation was an astounding £20.
How can such a fee be considered reasonable for any service especially when it is for such a menial task to the aforementioned professional? — The Bartender.

Whitfield bus woe
The revised Whitfield bus service is a big problem. The 7.34 am service from the shops was about five minutes late recently, which was no major hardship for me at least.
The journey home though was another matter entirely. I arrived at the Crichton Street stop at about 4.50 pm, naively expecting to catch the scheduled 4.55 bus to Whitfield.
However, not a single Whitfield service visited the stop until 5.20, when there should have been one at 4.55, one at 5.05 and another at 5.15.
To add insult to injury, I had to stand and watch about half a dozen Downfield-bound buses sail past.
To make matters worse, there was the extra 15 minutes at least spent going all the way around the back of Whitfield before getting to a stop near to my home — there’s no north-bound service up Whitfield Drive, etc, any more. It’s a 10-minute journey according to the timetable.
No doubt they’ll be putting up the fares soon to pay for these “service improvements”. — Saving up for a car.
More important things to deal with
It is odd that anyone should demand the “return” of Mary Queen of Scots’ remains to Scotland.
This monarch was French in all but where she was born.
The SNP government should be using parliament time for more important matters.
Disturbing the remains of someone who has been dead for over 420 years is not one of them. — Holyrood Watcher.
