Lesley’s brave shave

Gillian lends a hand to Bruce Sutherland, from Bruce Sutherland Hair and Beauty of Tayport, to shave Lesley’s hair.

Halloween may be the time of year for hair-raising frights, but one brave Carnoustie woman has gone one step further and lost her hair altogether in aid of cancer charities (writes James Williamson).
Lesley Stewart (42), a receptionist at the Parkside Vet Group in Dundee, had her head shaved on Friday to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign to help her friend and colleague Gillian Nelson (35) — who was diagnosed with the condition in July and is currently undergoing chemotherapy — in her fund-raising drive for the charity.

Lesley told the Tele, “I’m feeling fine about it — it’s gone really well. I think I was more bothered by all the cameras than having my hair shaved!”

Gillian, the head veterinary nurse at Parkside, said she also plans to raise funds for the charity by holding a fashion show aboard the Frigate Unicorn later this year, as well as a disco and golf competition in the New Year.
