| The 25-year-old, who had a history of depression, had not been seen since disappearing from his home in the Hilltown area early on September 20.
Relatives, including mother Frances, were informed when the body was found at Auchterhouse this week, but formal identification was only confirmed yesterday.
Ms Ross was to upset to speak publicly today, other than to express her thanks to everyone who had shown concern for her son during a “difficult time” over the past few weeks.
A Tayside Police spokesman said, “We can confirm that the body of a man found at Auchterhouse burn in rural Angus on Monday has been formally identified.
“He has been named as 25-year-old Darren Ross, from Tulloch Court in Dundee.
“Mr Ross had previously been reported missing to Tayside Police and inquiries had been ongoing in an effort to trace him.
“His body was discovered on Monday morning by a dog walker near to Burnhead Farm, Auchterhouse.
“The deceased has been the subject of a post mortem investigation and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.” |
