| The players and staff returned following yesterday’s funeral of chairman Eddie Thompson and, this morning, Craig Levein was looking forward to getting down to work on the training ground.
And the United team boss has no doubts his side can lift themselves for Saturday’s visit of St Mirren.
He said, “The lads have got on with it all week, so I can’t see that changing. What has happened over the last couple of weeks has been incredibly sad, but that’s what they do — play football.
“They’ve looked lively in training and sometimes playing football can be a welcome release, it’s something players do instinctively.”
After a three-week break, the manager was also looking forward to putting a team on the park.
He added, “It will be good to get a game. Obviously, given the situation, it was right last week’s was cancelled.
“It’s an important match in more ways than one, but there should be a decent crowd and a good atmosphere and we’ll be doing everything we can to win.”
