Mary loves wheely meals
An 83-year-old Dundee woman helped Dundee City Council mark Community Meals on Wheels Week today, describing the service as invaluable to the elderly, ill and disabled (writes Jennifer Cosgrove).
Mrs Mary McCann has been using the meals on wheels service for five years and often recommends it to friends.

She was visited today by Richard McCready, the depute social work and health convener.

Tayside Contracts and the council’s social work department are members of the National Association of Care Catering and the Tayside Cuisine Unit partnership currently supplies more than 1000 meals a day to vulnerable people.

Mrs McCann said, “It’s good to have a warm meal inside you in the winter — one of my favourites is roast beef and potatoes.

“I keep myself active and I don’t like to think I’m a typical 83-year-old — I’m still silly and stupid inside. But, when I had my hips done, it was nice to know there was food coming.”
