The sky was the limit for one adrenaline-fuelled Dundee man who jumped out of a plane to raise money for a cancer care centre in the city (writes Debbie Kerr).
Paul Smith, of Strips of Craigie Road, completed a 10,000 ft tandem parachute jump at Strathallan airfield last Sunday raising £1280 for Maggie’s in Dundee.

Oil industry worker Paul decided to take part in the challenge to thank the centre for the level of care given to his brother-in-law William Burton.

“All of the staff at Maggie’s were really good during and after his treatment,” he explained.

“Thankfully William is now in remission and we wanted to do something to help raise money for the centre.”

Paul (31) continued, “I was actually fine on the way up. I think the adrenalin was kicking in, I wasn’t nervous at all, just excited.

“It was amazing, I don’t think I will ever experience anything like it again.”

Paul went along to the Maggie’s Centre to hand over the cheque to Valerie Busher, the centre's fundraising co-ordinator.

BOWLING CLUB

The centre has also benefited from a donation from the Strathmartine Bowling Club.

Generous members of the club raised £165 during a charity bowling day. John Duncan, men’s president at the bowling club, and ladies president, Janice Black, presented the cheque to Karen Busher, a volunteer fundraiser at Maggie’s.
