Motorcyclist crash victim named
A motorcyclist who died in an accident on Sunday has been named as Montrose father of two Calum Strachan (53), of Provost Mitchell Road.

He worked as a research chemist at the GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceuticals plant in the town.

He is survived by his wife Shona and daughters Emma (28) and Aisha (19), who were being comforted by friends and neighbours yesterday.

Mr Strachan was riding his Yamaha bike on the B9113 Forfar to Montrose Road around 6.20pm when he came into collision with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

He was thrown from his bike and trapped under the car before being released by members of Tayside Fire and Rescue Service. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the car were not injured but were taken to Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar where they were treated for shock. The road was closed for several hours.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in Forfar. Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to get in touch with Tayside Police on (0845) 600 5705.
