| Over the past few months, pubs, clubs and bars in the Dundee Licensing Board area have been applying for Best Bar None accreditation.
Supported by the Evening Telegraph, Best Bar None is run by the Dundee Coordinated Anti-Crime Network project.
The focus is not on whether or not you can get a decent pint, or what the food’s like.
Instead, the initiative concentrates on issues such as health and safety, policy on drugs, disabled access, protecting children from harm, prevention of crime, and disorder and environmental awareness.
After applying, judges visit the premises and the level of accreditation is then determined.
Best Bar None is supported by the police, Dundee City council and Dundee Community Safety Partnership and is sponsored by drinks company Diageo.
The ceremony will see venues receiving their awards, as well as category winners being announced and the overall winner too.
Co-ordinator Morag Douglas said, “It’s been a hectic few months. We have been very impressed with the overall standard of the applicants.” |
