Packing for Uganda trip
Senior pupils of Menzieshill High School were today packing the final boxes to be flown out to Uganda for a class expedition.
The group, who have so far raised over £19,600, fly out from Edinburgh Airport on Sunday and make their way to Gaba in Uganda until October 18.

With the money raised the group’s plans include buying materials and painting a classroom in Gaba Secondary School, providing educational equipment in Science, PE and Geography, painting a house at Chagwe Orphanage, taking books and games to the orphanage and turning an area of land there into a playing field.

Head teacher George Laidlaw said, “We are totally impressed with the effort and energy the young people have put into raising almost £20,000.

“We’re really delighted with the impact this group of students will make in Uganda and expect to follow through and develop links with the area in the future.”

The pupils have prepared a blog: http://dc2blog.ea.dundeecity.sch.uk/uganda/, which they will be writing in every day during their three-week trip.

The pupils involved are Rhianne Brown, Hayley Cuthill, Ashley Dwyer, Amy Isles, Alister MacDonald, Sara Sinclair, Jillian Smith and Genny Treays.

Teaching staff on the trip include Mrs Joane Hynie, Mrs Louise McCafferty, Miss E. Scott and Mr Hugh Henderson.
