Housebuilder’s staff meet to discover fate
The staff at Gladedale’s Dundee office, which is earmarked for closure, were called to a meeting today to find out their fate (writes Jenna Cairney).
It is understood the housebuilder’s 35 employees will be made redundant today as the company prepares to close the office in Dundee’s Technology Park.

The devastating news came after the company launched a 30-day review of its northeast operations.

Last month, the company said it was considering closing the local office completely and staff prepared themselves for the worst.

Speaking at the time, staff said they were already looking for new jobs as they were in no doubt they would be made redundant.

This summer, Gladedale, formerly Bett Homes, had eight separate building projects under way in the Dundee area and was in talks with Dundee City Council and other developers over a ninth.

The credit crunch and lack of consumer confidence were blamed for the need to review its operations.

Several house-builders such as Barratt, Persimmon, Stewart Milne and Redrow have also announced cuts recently.

Gladedale was approached by the Tele, but failed to comment before press time.
