Rae encouraged
He knows it was a case of two points dropped against Dunfermline on Saturday, but Dundee boss Alex Rae was happy to accentuate the positive today (writes Tom Duthie).
Playing against 10 men for over a half, the Dark Blues squandered a string of chances, but Alex feels the only thing that wasn’t right was the result.

“If we continue to play like that, I know we will be close to where we want to be at least, so, although I was disappointed not to win, I feel it is important to look at the positives,” he said.

“It was another clean sheet and a very solid defensive performance. I was very pleased with Craig McKeown’s first start and there is more to come from him.

“Going forward, we passed the ball very well and created enough chances to score a few goals.

“We didn’t and it’s not the first time that’s happened this season, but I believe in the strikers and the goals will come.”

Another plus this week will be the return to full training of midfielder Darren Young for the first time since he hurt an ankle on the pre-season trip to Malta.

Moving to off-field matters, it remains unclear whether or not former Dundee United director John Bennett will follow up his interest in moving over the road to make a major investment at Dens Park.

While talks between Bennett and the Dens board are understood to be at an advanced stage, a change of ownership looks to be weeks away, at least.
