Saints miss out on McGregor
St Johnstone failed to add to their squad before the deadline, a move for Clyde defender Neil McGregor falling through despite a fee being agreed (writes James Masson).
“We were working on the deal until late in the night, but, unfortunately, no business was done,” said boss Derek McInnes.

Derek is still looking to bring players in on loan and took in a couple of reserve games today.

Meanwhile, Saints defeated a Rangers side containing Chris Burke, Jean-Claude Darcheville and Nacho Novo 2-1 in a closed-door game in the west of Scotland. Derek Holmes and Peter MacDonald netted for the Perth men.

Kevin Moon made his comeback from injury and played 75 minutes. “He was great,” said Derek, who was forced to replace Paul Sheerin and Gavin Swankie after 20 minutes due to injuries.

Saints face Hearts behind closed doors next week and Kevin James, Kevin Rutkiewicz and Jody Morris are down to play in that one.
