Dundee bucking panel recruit trend
Children’s Minister Adam Ingram today launched a national campaign for volunteers to join children’s panels across the country — but Dundee is bucking the trend (writes Kirsten Johnson).
While many areas in Scotland, including Angus and Perth and Kinross, desperately need to recruit more volunteers to serve on children’s hearings, Dundee Children’s Panel has more than the necessary capacity and will not be taking on any new volunteers this year.

Shona Lynn, chair-person of Dundee Children’s Panel, told the Tele that following several successful appeals in recent years, Dundee has a “healthy number of volunteers”.

She said, “We have over 80 volunteers who can sit on children’s hearings, so we do not need any more at the moment.

“However, I would urge anyone from outlying areas such as Monifieth and Inver-gowrie to contact the panels in Angus and Perth and Kinross, as they are recruiting.”
