Tributes flow for teen drug casualty
Police in Dundee were today continuing their investigation into the suspected drug death of a 17-year-old girl (writes David Clegg).
Terri McHendry’s body was discovered on Sunday night at her Balerno Place home in the Douglas area of the city.

She is thought to be one of the city’s youngest drug victims in recent years, with police saying “all indications” suggest this is the case.

Her mother, Linda, was today being comforted by friends and it is understood the family may release a statement.

Today, tributes were pouring in to the teenager’s page on the social networking website Bebo.

One said, “I am missing you so much and can’t believe it has happened. They always take the good and leave the bad.”

A police spokesperson said it was still too early to give an exact cause of death and the investigation into the full circumstances was continuing.

Earlier this month, figures revealed that drug deaths in Dundee went up by almost half in the last year.

There were 23 drug deaths in 2007 compared with 16 the previous year.

Heroin was involved in 12 deaths last year, alcohol in six, diazepam in three, methadone in two and cocaine in one. Police have pledged to investigate the deaths, identify where people are sourcing the drugs and target the problem.
