Here comes the parade

Dundee city centre revelled in a carnival atmosphere as hundreds of local youngsters, joined by representatives from the city’s twin towns, took part in the Lord Provost’s Parade, the centrepiece of the annual Dundee Youth Festival.
Although delegates from Nablus had been refused visas to travel, the fifth annual event was attended by representatives from Orleans, Wurzburg and Alexandria.

The parade, on Saturday, was led by Angus and Dundee Battalion Army Cadet Force Band, and marched along Reform Street from Dundee High to City Square.

Lord Provost John Letford and Karyn Tovey, Youth Citizen of the Year, led the host of youth organisations.

Mr Letford, who created the event, said, “This is a celebration of the youth of Dundee and our twinning sister cities across Europe and the United States.

“This parade recognises the contribution made by young people in these places and the talent they have.”

Almost two dozen organisations took part.
