| Around 100 people of varying ages turned up to the unofficial skating competition, which saw some awe-inspiring skateboarding skills.
“Everything depended on the weather but it was great and that meant a lot more people came down,” said Andy McLaughlin, who co-organised the event.
The underground skateboarding competition has become increasingly popular over the last three years.
This year it managed to gain sponsorship from local stores Dundee Concrete, The List, Frontside and Ozzy’s.
“It was great to have that level of support because we’re trying to raise money to get the park fitted with lights,” Andy said.
Co-organiser Steven Todd said everyone was delighted with the turnout which he attributed to a skateboarding renaissance.
“Skateboarding has really come back into fashion recently and there are a whole heap more fresh faces at the skate park than there used to be,” he said. “There are a lot more kids asking you for a shot on your skateboard than there used to be.” |
