Pooches to strut their stuff at charity event
One lucky pooch is set to scoop the title of Tayside’s top dog at an unusual children’s charity fundraiser event this weekend (writes Debbie Kerr).
Fairy Box children’s charity is looking for Tayside’s cutest, smartest dog and contestants will be judged at the grand final on Sunday in the Bonar Hall, Perth Road.

Thirteen owners and their pets will be strutting their stuff to win over the audience and judges with their ‘barktastic’ talents.

Perth-based actress Leslie Mackie will act as the master of ceremonies, with Britain’s Got Talent contestant Steve Cousins presenting Tayside’s Top Dog with the Fairy Box Challenge Cup.

The winner will also have the opportunity to have its portrait created by local artist Mary Macgregor, while the runner-up will receive a pampering from dog groomer Kevin Wilson.

Fairy Box trustee Rosie Butler said, “Over the summer, under the watchful eye of Dundee dog trainer Jess Probst, puppies have learned to play with their owners and old friends have learned new tricks. We anticipate a nail-biting end to the contest.

“If fun is truly the medicine we hope, the good vibes created will rub off on the charity.”
