I was decanted from my home between July 1 and 15. The council was treating it for woodworm.
I live in Helmsdale Avenue and the council put metal shutters on my widows to secure the property during my absence.
However, while I was out of the house someone dug up a Japanese maple and removed a stone ornament of a mother and baby rabbit.
These items were given to me by a friend who died in January from a brain tumour. She asked me to look after them while she was in hospital. Sadly, she died.
I am really upset by this theft as it is like losing my friend all over again.
I would just like the person who took these items to know what they mean to me. — Ruth Henderson, Helmsdale Avenue, Dundee.

Our next trip is to Jedburgh Woollen Mills.

Taxi decisions soon
Re letters about the taxi service in Dundee. As a cabbie I can confirm the cost of inflation, fuel prices, etc means I have to work 60 hours a week to earn what I made in 40 hours 10 years ago.
Issues like the number of taxis in the city, fares and disabled access taxis should be resolved soon, when Dundee City Council makes relevant decisions. — Very Concerned Cabbie.
Tax break for hairless
In response to Charon’s letter regarding an increase of road tax on soft-top cars, is Charon an aerodynamics engineer?
There’s no better feeling than driving down country roads with the wind rippling one’s pate.
Mind you, my own is hairless and therefore creates less drag.
Perhaps I should be taxed slightly less than hirsute top lovers? — Joolz.
Sale
A good as new sale will be held on Wednesday at 6.30pm in Menzieshill House, Earn Crescent, Dundee. All proceeds for Residents’ Comfort Fund. — Liz Johnstone, Menzieshill House.
No offer for homeless in Dundee
Where are all the houses?
My daughter who is a working, single parent with a 15-year-old daughter, has now been registered homeless for seven months with no offer of a house in Dundee.
I know there will be many like her, but what are they supposed to do? There seems to be no outside help to resolve the matter.
She has seen a lawyer and also a councillor and all to no avail.
This has had a drastic effect on my daughter and my granddaughter, moving from house to house for the sake of getting a roof over their heads, although only temporarily.
She could go private as she has done before, but why should she?
How many months of storage costs does she have to endure before being made an offer?
I do feel for her and anyone else in her shoes. — Very Concerned Mother.
No racist to stop immigration
I couldn’t believe what I read in Monday’s court report. A Polish man who has no job or house breaks into homes in Dundee, not once but twice, and the judge says, “We MAY have to deport you.”
Britain has enough criminals without opening the doors to these types. Gordon Brown’s immigration policy has just been one huge failure.
It is not racist to suggest we stop these East Europeans flooding our country. — No Job, Fintry, Dundee.
No choice of fuel
I am appalled that the recent upgrading of houses in Dundee means there is no longer a choice between gas and electric heating.
Many folk I know like or prefer electric. — Westender, Dundee.
