| There were reports of some traffic problems on roads surrounding the show ground, but the overall response from the public was extremely positive.
Tradition has changed in recent years, as the popular event was transformed from a weekend festival to a three-day extravaganza.
The extra day has been enthusiastically received, with Friday visitor numbers encouraging.
Visitors to the fair are being offered the chance to try their hand at a wide range of activities — including archery and clay pigeon shooting. They can also browse at more than 400 trade stands and sample a range of delicacies at the food hall.
One regular visitor to the event was convinced it was the busiest Game Fair Friday he had ever seen.
“We arrived pretty early on and it has been very busy indeed,” he said.
“There was a fair bit of traffic and it did take a while to get here — the roads were pretty choked. I was amazed just how busy it is, there has been a heck of a turnout. I think it has been far busier than it was on Friday last year.”
Pipe bands, falconry displays and terrier racing will entertain the crowds over the weekend, while main ring attractions also include the 1815 musketry and drill re-enactment group. The fair runs from 9.30am to 6pm tomorrow and Sunday. |
