Blue badge should have photo
Having read that three people have lost their permits for misuse of the blue badge, it must make interesting reading for people who are genuinely disabled.

One afternoon recently, a young woman parked outside Mecca bingo in Nethergate and proceeded to put a blue badge on the dashboard.

She then got out of the car and actually sprinted across the road in front of a bus.

She obviously was not disabled so whose badge was she displaying?

The only remedy for misuse is to put the person’s photograph on the same side as the permit to be displayed then the authorities could see if the person using the badge is the legitimate user or if the user is in the car.

The blue badges are blatantly misused and the quicker the perpetrators of this scam are booked and fined the better. — Genuine Disabled Badge User.

Is Titch titchiest?

Katie Head with Titch on her knee.

I have had Jack Russells for many years. Seven months ago one of our dogs had a litter and all were the usual sized, short-legged small type puppies called pudding Jack Russells except for one that was so tiny we didn’t expect her to survive.

Her brothers all grew to normal size and she remained very very small. With large eyes she looked like an alien. I decided to keep her and she went from the ugly duckling to the beautiful swan. She is a lovely little dog now but at 8.5 inches tall she is still very very small.

Many people think she should be in the record books as the smallest Jack Russell.

She is by far the smallest of all the Jack Russells we have ever had.

We aptly called her Titch. Do any Tele readers know of any smaller Jack Russells? — Jane Head, Newbigging.

Too much emphasis on drink
I was shocked to pick up my copy of this year’s Broughty Ferry Gala Week programme to find that the organisers have turned to drink in an effort to promote their child-friendly annual shindig.

The vast majority of the week’s events are aimed at children and families.

A huge banner strung across Brook Street advertising beer, the programme cover emblazoned with a similar advert —I do wonder if they have failed to spot that we have a problem with under-age drinking. — Dave Good, West Ferry.

Washing hands
Regarding reader’s letter about dirty paths at Ninewells Hospital. I, too, washed my hands on entering and leaving a ward I was visiting, but I wondered if this was doing any good.

When I came outside I was astonished to see a female patient standing smoking outside in pyjamas and bare feet. I wonder, did she wash them before returning to her ward and getting into bed? — Concerned Reader.

Keep eye on all animals
In response to letter from Cat Lover, I agree that it’s sad when a pet dies and I am sympathetic to what happened and the way it happened.

On the other hand, however, I am tired of hearing that it’s only dog owners that are deemed irresponsible for allowing their animals off leads.

Was the cat on a lead? Dogs must be restrained at all times and if not, the owners are irresponsible. However it seems perfectly acceptable for cats to be left to wander through people’s gardens, mess everywhere without it being cleaned up and to kill innocent birds and mice in what is probably an equally horrific and frightening attack for the animals concerned. — D. A.

Dangerous dogs
I hope Cat Lover who lost her pet following an attack by dogs in her own garden has reported this matter to police, giving a description of the dogs involved.

They are clearly a danger to other animals at the very least and the owners responsible must be challenged over this appalling incident.

I thought it was an offence to be the owner of an uncontrolled dog. My sympathies to the poor lady and her small child over this terrible occurrence. — Sickened.

Housing crisis
Regarding the council housing crisis in Dundee, I have been homeless for 10 months now. In that time I have not had one offer.

I suggested I would be more than happy to take a house in the Derby Street multis, but was told no. If these multis got filled up again with tenants, surely with all the rent money that would bring in more than enough money to cover the security. Tenants could be vetted so as not to have a tower block full of junkies. — R. T., Homeless.

Brooksbank picnic
Brooksbank Centre & Services are holding a picnic tomorrow at the premises in Pitairlie Road, Mid Craigie, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research.

The picnic is from 11 am to 1.30 pm.

Please come along and support a good cause. Donations for raffle would be appreciated. — C. Coventry, Community Support Worker. Tel: 432450.

Praise for St Columba’s
The pupils, teachers and staff who helped with the organising of this year’s end of term concert deserve a lot of praise. This was the last production at this school due to it closing.

The children presented their audience with a nostalgic trip down memory lane with songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000 and a mind boggling quiz. Their performance was wonderful.

St Columba’s Got Talent was the title for the concert and indeed it has, from pupils to teachers. Well done to you all and best wishes at your new school. — Courtney Millar’s Mum & Dad.

Special treatment for Naomi
Here we go again and I refer to the case of Naomi Campbell having broken serious rules yet again.

She is given 200 hours’ community service.

If this had been an ordinary person, he or she would have gone to prison.

Even the fine was not enough. — Jimmy Borland.

Pendant found
A pendant was found at the Spar, Glamis Road. Contact Andy. — 07506 689443.
