| That news will shock Dundee United fans, who said a fond farewell to the 31-year-old at the end of last season after he announced he was returning home to Norway because his wife was homesick.
Boss Craig Levein, though, is aware of this development and knows the player has not “done the dirty” on his old club.
Just this week he was linked with home-town club Brann Bergen, from whom he signed for United in 2006, but it now appears he could be on his way to Turf Moor instead.
Such a move could see him leave his wife and young family at home in Norway and involve an arrangement enabling him to return to visit several times during the season.
That may not be an ideal situation, but, as he reaches the veteran stage, Kalvenes may find it hard to reject a salary considerably higher than anything he has earned in his career to date.
If Burnley do get their man, it will be a second successful raid on the City of Discovery in just 24 hours after they secured the services of Dundee’s highly-rated Scotland U/21 international Kevin McDonald. |
